New News:

Accessible Play's fourth annual trivia night was held on Saturday March 24, 2012.  Our night was an incredible success because of generous donors, participants and volunteers, including Randy Gardner our emcee. THANK YOU!  The Board of Directors of Accessible Play would like to offer a special word of thanks to the Board of Directors of the Florissant Parks Foundation. They made a donation of $5,000 to Accessible Play during a special presentation during a break in trivia to Accessible Play. Along with their donation we raised approximately $11,000 for the evening.  To see a list of all our sponsors click here for a printable program from our trivia night.

Accessible Play, Inc. and the Hazelwood School District are pleased to announce students from Hazelwood West and Pattonville high schools are selling t-shirts to raise funds for a special playground designed to allow children of ALL abilities to play side-by-side.  The students, members of each school’s Future Educators Association, have teamed up with Accessible Play, Inc., to help build Angie’s Playground, the first universally inclusive playground in North St. Louis County.

Karyn Jones, president of Hazelwood West’s FEA chapter, says that all children, regardless of their abilities or disabilities, deserve a place to play outside.  “I can’t imagine, as a kid, not having a playground that was safe and accessible,” Karyn said. “If we can help just a little with these t-shirts, we can make a difference in people’s lives.”

The t-shirts, designed by students in Hazelwood West’s functional skills program, illustrate what their perfect playground might look like. They are $12, available in four different colors, and can be ordered by contacting Denise Inman, FEA sponsor at Hazelwood West. Click here for an order form.  E-mail Mrs. Inman at dinman@hazelwoodschools.org. All proceeds will be donated to Accessible Play, Inc.
